15 Greatest Film Scores of All-Time

Tron: Legacy (Daft Punk)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1Pc-S5dl8g Tron: Legacy: a film which is as complimentary to the ears as it is to the eyes. Awash with neon lights, silky smooth visuals and futuristic elements wrapped up for a visually stunning piece of cinema. The story itself isn't too bad either. But one of the main characterstics that makes the film is it's perfectly adapted score, a mix of electronic futuristic sounds mastered by the charismatic duo Daft Punk. The tone of the score sets the mood for the film, capturing its essence of bright lights, sharp colours and soft calming visuals. An ochestral masterpiece that creates a stunningly rich atmosphere in which you can easily immerse youself in. Having heard the soundtrack before latching eyes on the film, already a fan of Daft Punk, I was immedieatly drawn in. The score helps make this film what it is: an incredible account of how a movies backing track can almost eclipse its cinematic intention, helping you be drawn in to this majestic world. Its visual presence benefiting from the tone that has been set by these talented artists. Listening to this epic soundtrack whilst driving through a city at the stroke of midnight, lights ablaze and promotional signs flickering amongst the empty streets, you easily feel yourself being engulfed by the the deep, ambient sounds, imagining yourself calmly drifting through a futuristic world. When a score has this kind of effect on you, it only confirms that such a piece of musical material is perfectly in rhythm with the movie it was produced for. Andrew Smith
