15 Most Anticipated Films of 2013

15. Only God Forgives

Release Date: March 28th I thought about just typing: €œRefn. Gosling. €˜Nuff said€ for this entry, but then I felt that people who didn€™t see Drive might want some more info. So, in the interest of giving here€™s a little more info: The director of Drive re-teams with his leading man, this time heading to Bangkok, Thailand. After killing a cop, Gosling€™s character flees to Bangkok and goes into hiding. Once there, he falls into €œmanaging€ a boxing club (really a drug operation€™s front business.) His brother murders a prostitute and is then killed himself, thrusting Gosling€™s character right in the middle of things. His mother arrives to collect her son€™s body, and instructs Gosling€™s character to get revenge and €œraise hell.€ Drive was my Top Film of 2011, and that alone justifies its presence on this list. Nicolas Winding Refn is a director who€™s finally getting the notice and praise he deserves, and Ryan Gosling is at the top of his game right now. This should be a fun, violent ride.

14. Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall

Release Date: June 28th Kick Ass was a surprise (to some) hit in early 2010, due in large part to it being, well kick-ass. Unfortunately, director Matthew Vaughn isn€™t back to helm the sequel, as he€™s off prepping to shoot X-Men: Days of Future Past. In his stead, we€™re getting Jeff Wadlow a fairly unknown director, who has some big shoes to fill. Set pics have shown that the look is still very much intact from the first movie, and with the addition of stars Jim Carrey, and Donald Faison, maybe - just maybe - Wadlow can hit all the right notes of the original, while adding something new to the world. I know I€™m curious, are you? Well, if that one doesn€™t do it for you, maybe the next one will...
