15 Most Ridiculous Movies In Development

Transformers gets Nazis and...King Arthur!?

Rampage The Rock
Bally Midway

There are two types of ridiculous movie: those that are totally unrestrained and a ton of fun, and those that struggle to find a consistent tone and end up rather embarrassing.

It can often be a fine line between the two and filmmakers don't always find out which one they're making until deep into the editing process (looking at you, Jupiter Ascending).

These 15 movies may end up being delirious masterpieces or flaming trainwrecks, but they're without question the most bizarre, outrageous and ferociously demented films currently in development, be they already in post-production or still in the planning stages.

From some of the most ambitious movies ever staged to premises that inspire more laughter than anything, you can expect these films to be among the silliest, the weirdest and the most unforgettable of the next five years.

Here are the 15 most ridiculous movies in development...

15. Meg

Rampage The Rock
Warner Bros.

Release Date: March 2, 2018

The Pitch: Former Naval captain Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) mounts a mission to rescue Chinese scientists from a 70-foot prehistoric shark, the Megalodon.

Why It's Ridiculous: It's Jason Statham taking on a shark, with a supporting cast including Ruby Rose and Rainn Wilson (aka Dwight from The Office), and is directed by the man responsible for Cool Runnings (Jon Turteltaub). What more do you really need to know?

Will It Be Any Good?: It depends solely on how seriously the movie takes itself. If it's campy and tongue-in-cheek (as many of Turteltaub's films are), then it could be fun, but if the tone is funereal and straight-faced, then just forget about it.
