15 Traumatising Moments From Children’s Movies That Scarred You For Life

15. He Can't See Without His Glasses - My Girl

My Girl is a coming-of-age film about a young girl called Vada who experiences many different highs and lows growing up in small town America in the 1970's. Vada, who has a string of medical problems, befriends a young boy named Thomas who is allergic to just about everything. It is a sweet friendship and the two rely on each other for support during the course of the film. The two even share their first kiss together and everything is just lovely and perfect for a little while. Soon after, Thomas and Vada go into the woods where Vada looses one of her mood rings in a beehive they have knocked down. Thomas goes to retrieve it but doesn't come back: he is stung by the bees and dies after suffering an allergic reaction. As if killing the kid from Home Alone wasn't enough, you then have to sit through his funeral, which is too much for Vada who rushes up to the open casket and interrupts the eulogy by demanding they put his glasses on while the grownups tell her that her friend is gone. It is heartbreaking stuff and culminates in Vada breaking down in tears and fleeing the funeral home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFr3BkrjGhU
