Aronofsky to direct "Black Flies" adaptation

2047435391.jpgRequiem for a Dream director Darren Aronofsky will be helming the movie adaptation of Shannon Burke's novel "Black Flies" according to The Hollywood Reporter. Here is the plot synopsis taken from their site.. "The novel follows a young man who becomes an emergency medical technician in Harlem as a temporary stop before he enters medical school. While there, he experiences a range of crises and stressful misadventures while under the eye of a mentor who has been numbed to the point that he makes a wrong decision in a life-or-death situation". I never liked Requiem for a Dream (apparentaly the 54th greatest film of all time on IMDB, yeah right!) but I really like the look of his next movie The Fountain. Can't say that Black Flies sounds all that interesting though. source - the hollywood reporter
