Due to the staggering success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the last decade, Hollywood has been chasing that special sauce that Marvel and Disney continue to have. Everyone wants their own cinematic universe, the results having varied wildly across the board, with some flourishing, like the incredibly financially successful The Conjuring Universe, and others failing to launch, like Universal's troubled Dark Universe.

And then there's the MonsterVerse, a budding franchise that has found success in pacing itself, having kicked off with Godzilla in 2014 and Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and set to continue with this month's Godzilla: King of the Monsters and next year's event film Godzilla vs. Kong. Despite such a small number of films under the series' belt, the MonsterVerse has attracted quite a lot of talent to take part in it, including quite a handful of veterans from the MCU.

With King of the Monsters right around the corner, let's look back over the franchise so far and ahead at what's still to come to run down all the familiar faces from Marvel's juggernaut who've appeared or are set to appear in the Titan-filled MonsterVerse...

16. Aaron Taylor-Johnson

In the MCU: Taylor-Johnson appeared as Wanda's brother, Pietro "Quicksilver" Maximoff, in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, which served as his one and only appearance to date after his character was killed protecting Hawkeye and a Sokovian child.

In the MonsterVerse: He appeared in Godzilla as Joe Brody's son Ford, the Navy officer who ended up destroying the MUTO nest, opening a window Godzilla to defeat the MUTOs, before reuniting with his family by film's end.
