20 Actors Who Almost Starred In Your Favorite Horror Movies

It's scary how different things could have been.

There are many factors that contribute to making an iconic horror film; getting the right actors involved is among the most crucial. This is one of the reasons why the horror genre can be of a much more varied quality than other genres. A role could be written exquisitely on paper, but get the wrong guy or gal saying those lines and a project will start to look more like a Uwe Boll production rather than a horror film that's going to be fondly remembered for all time. For instance: Freddy Krueger portrayed by anyone other than Robert Englund in the original Elm Street films would be nearly blasphemous to even think about (just look at the horrendous 2010 remake). Similarly, it's hard to tell if Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead would still hold up today if any other actor had been portraying the groovy lead character instead of Bruce Campbell. However, there are a lot of €œwhat ifs€ in the movie business, the horror genre in particular - hundreds of actors who almost starred in some of the most beloved horror films of all time. And that€™s the topic at hand today. Finding the best actors for a film is never an easy task. Having the right actors can make your movie. Having the wrong ones can effectively doom it. The reason why these actors didn't land these roles vary greatly from case to case, but they'd have all greatly altered the impact of their films.
