20. Mindhorn

Mindhorn Julian Barratt
StudioCanal

Who would have thought that cult classic show MacGyver would be responsible for so much this decade? After inspiring silly comedy MacGruber, the show has been revived with Lucas Till and now there's a British take on it thanks to the brilliant, warped mind of Julian Barratt.

Made for a tiny budget and given just a limited release, Mindhorn was released to a wider audience on Netflix, who will have been delighted by its peculiar brand of oddness and killer one-liners. It's terribly British - belonging to the oldest school of farce - and it's propped up brilliantly by Barratt's performance, which more than makes up for the lower production costs.

If you want to make it even better, watch the God-awful Mortdecai as a prelude.
