20 Easter Eggs In Spider-Man Films You Didn't Notice

16. Max's Birthday Cake References Electro Costume (The Amazing Spider-Man 2)

Both Marc Webb and Jamie Foxx commented prior to the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that they had deliberately opted not to use Electro's yellow-green costume from the comics, simply because it would seem silly and out of place in a contemporary movie. While they outed instead for a sleek, black rubber suit, that doesn't mean the movie completely abandoned the character's attired roots, and included one blatant reference to his origins. That's right, Max's birthday cake is not just a way to convey how tragically neglected the character is, but also, in fact, an easter egg. The green and yellow icing, complete with a yellow lightning bolt, is a very clear reference to his original costume, as if to say to comic book fans "He may look different, but we haven't forgotten who he really is" (questionable though that statement is considering the underwhelming final product).
