20 Hidden Sci-Fi Movie Gems To Watch On Netflix

For when you eventually run out of Terminators to watch...

Science fiction has allowed some of the greatest minds of several generations to take whatever technological or sociological revolutions exist in their own time, and then extrapolate wildly. They've predicted a future world full of electric cars, cyborg assassins, widespread political corruption or anger, and terrifying extraterrestrials who always want to eradicate all life on Earth. It has also allowed some of the less-great minds produce schlocky, low-budget action films where tin foil is glued to somebody€™s face and modern-day Swindon is asked to stand in for a US ravaged by cyborg wars in the year 3000. Not that there€™s anything wrong with that. And, as both our own lives become more and more dependant on technology and the cost of special effects continues to fall, it seems like there€™s more sci-fi flicks out there than ever before. In which case: where are you supposed to start? On Netflix, probably. But given the streaming service€™s huge catalogue of films and frankly awfully written plot synopses, that€™s not much help either. In which case it€™s jolly lucky there are people out there willing to comb through that intimidating collection of forgotten blockbusters and unseen B-pictures about robots, time travel and sickly celebrities. Here are twenty hidden sci-fi gems to watch on Netflix. Note: List adheres to the US region of Netflix.
