20 Ludicrous Ways To Die In A Horror Film

Bodymeltxxx Most films coming out of the horror genre these days seem to focus the majority of their budgets and creative drive on 2 specific elements: excessive amounts of gore and imaginative- often time ludicrous- ways of killing people. This especially goes for B-films and horror comedies, which tend to bank on the video-nasty fetishes that we have acquired from consuming such content. The very existence of film's like Human Centipede are evidence of just how far we've come in these regards. I've tried to avoid choosing too many mainstream clichés, while dipping into some underground and cult selections, for the sake of those readers who have yet to immerse themselves in the inner archives of horror hilarity. I know I could have just picked 20 of those those totally preposterous, mass produced, formulaic, CGI-based made for Netflix or SyFy films that are pumped out based on the analysis of consumer data and made purposefully shi**y. You know, films like Sharknado, Arachnoquake, Piranhaconda and such...but that's not my style. I did however throw one of these in at #20, for good measure. From Stephen King to Troma, slashers to sci-fi, zombies, vampires, and one source you surely wouldn't suspect- there are 1000's of potential candidates that are more than deserving to be on a list like this. I've tried to include examples from a range of genres, classifications and countries of origin! I wouldn't dare suggest that these are THE 20 most ludicrous horror deaths of all time, because that's clearly a subjective matter limited by what films you've actually seen. But they certainly are 20 Ludicrous Ways To Die In A Horror Film (from films that I've personally seen). Feel free to send some love, leave some better suggestions, or even hate a little. I don't mind. I welcome all comments and criticisms! And now...from the 1000's of potential candidates...here are my 20 choices!

I'm Josh. I was born and raised in the Niagara region. I'm an avid cinephile, dedicated archivist and pirate. I'm also an anarcho-punk fan that rides a bike, enjoys going on hikes, and really likes fruit....a sort of hippy-punk hybrid, if you will. I graduated from Brock University with an Honours degree in Political Science and an unofficial minor in Film. I enjoy writing learning, reading and writing about politics, film, and punk related issues. I hit shows in TO pretty often and look forward to checking out new films at TIFF every September.
