20. Venom

A featurette for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 revealed that the Venom symbiote was supposed to make an appearance in the closing moments of that movie, but, for whatever reason, the plan was changed (probably because no one involved with the franchise at the time seemed to know what they were doing). However, that's far from a bad thing, especially as you have to believe that Marvel aren't going to go anywhere near any of the villains from that series for their reboot next year. Venom could very well show up in Jon Watts' Spider-Man then, but with Peter Parker set to also appear in the two-part Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel would be wiser to have the alien suit first appear there, mirroring the comic book origin story which saw Spidey discover the symbiote during a trip to another world. From there, they'd have the perfect launching platform to make Venom a major villain in Spider-Man's next movie (which will no doubt come before the end of Phase 3 if the reboot succeeds). However, Venom is also a character who could be of benefit to them for a long time to come, especially when you take into account the fact that the current iteration is a member of the Guardians Of The Galaxy.
