20 Most Critically Adored Films Of 2015

19. Spy

Rotten Tomatoes: 93% From 211 Reviews Who would have thought that a fish out of water comedy that could have amounted to lots of fat jokes would be so widely appreciated? Perhaps that's why there's so much faith in the God-awful looking Grimsby (Brothers Grimsby), which will release next year. But of course it wasn't going to be an exercise in making Melissa McCarthy a victim of some reductive comedy that relied on gross-outs and endless jokes about how silly it is for a heavy person to be a spy, because Paul Feig was in charge. His working relationship with McCarthy brings out the best in both of them, which is why critics could accept that the film is far from unique (in either its homages or its spoofing) and just enjoy the top drawer hilarity.
