20 Most Extreme Horror Films Of All Time
19. Premutos: The Fallen Angel (1997)
Olaf Ittenbach's Premutos: The Fallen Angel (aka Premutos: Lord Of The Living Dead) often gets compared to Peter Jackson’s Dead Alive, and for good reason; if you're a fan of blood-caked gore, look no further. Premutos easily ranks up there with the goriest pictures in existence.
The film follows the carnage that ensues when a man accidentally resurrects Premutos, an evil fallen angel who takes over his body and then proceeds to summon an army of the living dead to do his bidding.
While the first half of the movie is a little slow at times (there’s still a lot going on, but in comparison it’s the slower half), the second half is unrelenting in both action and bloodshed. Premutos goes on a rampage of epic proportions; slaughtering people left and right, bringing the dead to “life,” and simply wreaking havoc. Blood, gore, vomit, snot - you name it, if it’s gross it’s presented. Heads blow up, limbs are severed and cheesy lines are spoken. It’s an all out war, the living versus the dead, with hilarious outcomes and a genius finale.
