What It Sounds Like: The idea of a Beetlejuice-flavoured comedy where Satan himself turns out to be a sassy fashionista with very specific brand taste.

What It Actually Is: The 2005 adaptation of the best-selling chick lit novel sadly isn€™t about Beelzebub€™s stylistic adventures. The story follows Andi Sachs (Anne Hathaway) as she makes her way in New York, landing herself a prestigious job as an editor€™s assistant.

The use of the word €œdevil€ is a cunning metaphor to represent Andi€™s feelings toward her venomous boss at fashion rag Runway. And while, yes, Meryl Streep does make a damn fine €˜horrible boss€™, she€™d be a brilliant trident-wielding Lady Of Darkness.
