20 Most Surprising Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2017

18. Pitch Perfect 3

Pitch Perfect 3
Universal

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 31%

While the trailers for the third Pitch Perfect didn't exactly suggest a great film - and the fact it was being dumped in cinemas over Christmas wasn't particularly encouraging either - it was still reasonable to expect a film that would score just moderately lower than the previous two films' respective scores of 80% and 65%. 45-50%, maybe?

Nope. Even the charming cast and fun a capella renditions couldn't do much to salvage this lazy threequel, which largely rehashed the formula of the last two movies, while missing several key cast members and taking an ill-advised diversion into spy spoof territory in its third act.

Again, few were expecting greatness here, but as the apparent finale to this unlikely franchise, it was undeniably deflating.
