The Grim Reaper was out in full force this past year liberating movie talents from their mortal coil.

In tribute to all those lost this past year we bring to you What Culture’s annual obituary. Get your tissues at the ready.

20. Alfie Curtis

Alfie Curtis may not have been the most prolific film actor with only a few supporting roles to his name in films including The Elephant Man, The Wildcats of St Trinian’s and Take It or Leave It but you’ll probably know him best as Dr Evazan, the disfigured patron who accosts Luke Skywalker at the Mos Eisley Cantina in the first ever Star Wars movie.

Although his role was uncredited, it was nevertheless a memorable part as Dr Evazan became one of the first characters injured by a lightsabre after taking a wound to the chest inflicted by Obi-Wan Kenobi and his big blue stick.

Alongside his film appearances, Curtis also acted in classic British TV shows including Cribb, Grange Hill and The Bill.

Helen Jones hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
