Looking back, maybe we should all try and party like it's 1999, because that was a really bloody great year for film. This was the year of Varsity Blues, or Boys Don't Cry, of Bicentennial Man and Al Pacino's speech in Any Given Sunday. It saw Stuart Little's debut, Sleepy Hollow, Dogma and Pokemon: The First Movie.
It was heralded at the time as the year that would change blockbusters forever and on account of it being the year the Star Wars Prequels kicked off, it did. Everything before it would be BP and everything after AP. Because there's nothing Star Wars fans like more than claiming George Lucas' poor creative decisions defined their life. Well, maybe making the same claim about Rian Johnson perhaps.
