4. It Randomly Becomes A Spy Spoof - Pitch Perfect 3

The third and apparently final Pitch Perfect movie decided to venture in a bold new direction...by bizarrely becoming a spy movie spoof in its third act.

Most of the Bellas end up kidnapped by Fat Amy's (Rebel Wilson) scheming father Fergus (a slumming-but-fun John Lithgow), who holds them to ransom on his boat for Fat Amy's large, near-$200 million inheritance.

In order to buy themselves some time, the Bellas perform an a capella routine for Fergus, all while Amy and Beca (Anna Kendrick) attempt to sneak on-board.

Amy fights one of Fergus' goons with a nunchuk-kielbasa (really), before setting the boat on fire, smashing through the skylight and dousing Fergus with a fire extinguisher, allowing the Bellas to escape just as the boat explodes.

Aside from being weird, it's really, really bad. There's no wit or subversive cleverness to the spoofery, and unsurprisingly, critics mostly trashed the film as a result.
