25 Star Wars Actors Who Are No Longer With Us

25. Art Carney

Art Carney? Yes, Art Carney. Believe it or not, the comedic legend was part of the Star Wars universe, and on screen no less. Carney was, of course, best known for his role of Ed Norton on The Honeymooners, opposite Jackie Gleason, but he had a wide and storied career that also included films like Firestarter, The Late Show, and Going In Style. One of the oft-forgotten roles Carney took on, however, is that of Trader Saun Dann in the Star Wars Holiday Special. Yes, that Holiday Special - the one nobody talks about. Universally panned, the special has never been rebroadcast, and exists now only in fan-made copies shared through social media and video hosting sites. It centred around the Wookie holiday Life Day, and Carney's Saun Dann appears as a member of the rebellion who helps Chewie's family. His character is played for laughs, and is similar to his Ed Norton character on The Honeymooners. Carney died in his sleep at age 85 in November 2003, beloved for his work on The Honeymooners. He was no doubt thankful subsequent airings of the Holiday Special never happened.
