5 Awesome Heist Films

4. Inside Man

inside man What starts out on immediate viewing as a simple robbery/hostage film soon twists and turns its way into one of the most imaginative heist films in recent times. Narrated by the robber, played by Clive Owen, the film is told in flashback interspersed with hostage interviews, as his gang take over a major NYC bank thus starting a cat and mouse game between Owen and Denzel Washington's detective. The delicate nature of the robbery, coupled with a mysterious safety deposit box, soon draws in various other interested parties which sets off Washington's curiosity as he realises too many things don't add up for it to be classed as a simple robbery. Inside Man is one of the few films that keeps you guessing to the end, and one where you do a complete 180 in your feelings towards the robbers - beginning with a dislike and changing to respect by the time the credits roll. Much like The Usual Suspects, it does lose some of its allure after the initial viewing and drags in parts, but it's worth a watch every couple of years when you've forgotten some of the finer details. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WRxsmqercg
