9. BEST - Man Of Steel

It may seem a controversial choice, given Zack Snyder's fondness for destroying Superman, but he actually made a wonderful - if slightly numb-headed spectacle in Man Of Steel that deserves some appreciation.

With the slog that was Superman Returns lingering in the memory, Snyder went for a more focused portrait of a man juggling his humanity and his superhumanity and juggling duty with self-preservation. Yes, it has some writing issues, but the pomp and circumstance is nailed perfectly, Henry Cavill is great as Superman (along with a very impressive supporting cast) and it was refreshingly different to what had come before in Superman's name.

It remains an under-appreciated marvel that belongs up with the best of the DCEU.
