5 Best Superman Movie Moments

5. Superman vs Clark

superman 3 kents Superman 3, whilst being a lesser film than its two predecessors, truly did have some wonderful 'Superman' moments - the scenes in Smallville with Clark especially. The story followed the attempts of a villainous Billionaire, Ross Webster's attempts to destroy Superman - he was basically a substitute for Lex Luthor in place of an absent Gene Hackman. Webster employs Gus Gorman, played by Richard Pryor, to recreate Kryptonite to kill Superman. However unable to account for the 'unknown' elements of the little green rock, Gorman substitutes tobacco in its place. The effect is not the weakening or death of Superman, but it makes him act, a little odd, essentially Superman turns evil. This provides some truly comic moments, such as when Evil Superman straightens the Leaning Tower of Pisa and blows out the Olympic torch just as the final carrier is about to light the Olympic Flame. The best moment however comes when the good inside him fights back, specifically, Clark Kent. It would have been extremely easy for the writers to have a Superman vs Superman fight here, however they chose wisely to have it be the Daily Planet Clark persona be the one that fights back, a representation of the humanity within Kal-El of Krypton. And we get to watch a great fight. Brilliant stuff.

Trying to be intelligent since 1984 - failing. The Dark Knight Trilogy is, in my humble opinion, the greatest trilogy every made. Nolan, Scorsese and Spielberg are my favourite directors, and I'd probably say GoodFellas is the best film I've ever seen - the Copacabana walk through alone... I love a Hitchcock and a good classic: Casablanca. I also write for Flickering Myth and Yahoo, and you can catch me talking film on a regular basis on the Flickering Myth Podcast.
