5 Future X-Men Films That Should Be Made

Cable Though Blade came first, X-Men was the film that really started off the superhero craze at the multiplex. Hugh Jackman's iconic performance made him a star; Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart were unforgettable; and the world was wowed. Whether you love or hate the movies, there's no argument that the X-Men film franchise got the ball rolling on the modern trend. X-Men First Class not only revitalized the series after two lackluster entries, but also opened the doors to several new directions the series could take. And even with The Wolverine and Days of Future Past on the horizon, the question remains: what next? Fox has confirmed they want to lead into an expanded universe with the Fantastic Four, but what other possibilities lie in the future? Here are some options.

5. 80's & 90's X-Men (Cyclops, Jean & Storm)

Cyclops & Jean#] It's already been confirmed that Days of Future Past (or DoFP for the sake of convenience) will take place in the 70's - and in the not-so-distant future. Time travel is weird and confusing... Anyway, the 70's will be a chance for the films to explore the history of Xavier's School For The Gifted, but, for a lot of fans, this may keep them from exploring characters who didn't get enough screen time in the original film. Specifically, the origins of Cyclops, Jean, and Storm. We saw some of Cyclops in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so we know how he came to Professor X, but what about his training? What about Storm? What adventures did they go on when they first were starting out? What is Cyclops's relationship with Havok? Older sibling? Father? We demand answers. The original trilogy's actors are getting older, and two of these three in canon have died (though it remains to be seen if they can be brought back to life by the end of DoFP). It would be a practical way to introduce them to the series, to develop them, and to explore their characters. Additionally, without Wolverine in the film, they'd have a chance to fully explore and star their characters. It would also give the wonderful cast of First Class more to do: MacAvoy was an amazing as Professor X, and, obviously, Fassbender is an awesome Magneto. More of their friendship/rivalry would be nice, especially if they temporarily make a truce. It would be nice to also see Mystique branch off as her own villain, gathering her own Brotherhood temporarily. And maybe a bit more Beast. And, perhaps most interesting of all, we have the chance to fully explore characters like Mr. Sinister, who would be fascinated and obsessed with the Summer's bloodline. And, while we're at it, why not do the Phoenix right this time? Professor X said she had to restrain the Phoenix before, so why not show her first incident, and give the Phoenix a chance to unleash her full awesomeness?

An aspiring writer, I am an avid fan of everything nerdy. Movies, televisions, games, comics, literature. Anything, I'm interested. Though my real passion is writing. Maybe one day I'll be a published author with books everywhere. Who knows...?
