5 Horror Sequels That Were Actually Awesome

Evildead We live in a time where horror movies are absolutely everywhere. The genre, for the most part, is an absolute goldmine for certain franchises. Just look at Saw and Paranormal Activity. They churned out a brand new film every year since the first, and they made an absolutely disgusting amount of money in the process. The sad thing, really, is that box office earnings aren't always a good indication of the quality of the film. In fact, most of the time, they aren't. Yet, regardless of quality, people go and see sequels. For some people, the name of the franchise itself is a good enough reason. For others, it doesn't matter how much of a turd the movie is, it's just worth going to to see their favourite movie villains slash up another healthy dose of helpless teenagers. And hell, there is that massive demographic of people who will just go see a scary movie for the sheer fact that it is a scary movie. They make for great date movies - or so they say. Putting aside the dozens and dozens of dire, uninspired cash-cow sequels, I'd like to talk about a handful of horror sequels that were genuinely entertaining, solid flicks. The films in the list are good for a number of different reasons, but mostly it comes down to the fact that they were made with that little bit more passion than your average sequel. A step above the rest in terms of creativity... and hell, just more entertaining.
