5 Lost Directors Who Still Have One Great Movie In Them

Frank-Darabont-L.A.-Noir-TNT1 There has been a trend in Hollywood that has somewhat died away recently, which was that remakes of older classic films was the way forward. You'd take an old film, slap a new cast and a music video director to it and shove it into our multiplexes. We'd all turn out in our droves, the young fans eager to see what all the fuss was about with this Michael Myers character and the older fans eager and nostalgic for a franchise they grew up with. The remakes almost always disappointed as they'd forget what made the originals so special and generally only go for the best way to make top dollar. With cinema nowadays we seem to find films that have lost their heart. I mean it's great fun watching robots hitting each other in an IMAX screen for three and a half hours, whilst wearing RealD glasses that darken everything so that your not really sure which non specific robot your meant to be cheering for. But I miss the old days. When a director didn't have ti simply fire up the green screen, drop A list celebs in front of them and send ILM a cheque for $100 million in order to make a fortune at the box office. We use to have filmmakers who could excite the audience and thrill them by simply utilising camera tricks and a creative use of a very small budget. So it's time to look at the directors that have simply hung up their capes and faded into the executive producer role of films they really have no love for. We need these people back behind the camera before we allow the Michael Bay and Gore Verbinski's of the world to dominate the box office...
