5 Most Underrated James Bond Movies

4. Diamonds Are Forever

DiamondsAreForever Sean Connery's final outing as James Bond (at least in the official series) was flawed, to say the least. From the campy humor, the ambiguously gay comic relief assassins, and finally Bambi and Thumper... there's plenty here for critics to pick at. However, it does contain many essential elements of a Bond movie. This is the final film where Blofeld appears as the primary antagonist (albeit after having received extensive plastic surgery), but with plenty of intrigue leading up the final reveal as to who he is. It's also the first film (for better or for worse) to feature the fanciful plots and action that became closely associated with the series for the following decade and a half. In it, Blofeld has constructed a giant laser using diamonds (?) which he plans to use to remotely target nearly any spot on Earth. The movie also features the climactic ending, a giant battle on an oil rig. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't provide any real closure to Blofeld's story, instead putting it off another ten years until he makes a half-hearted appearance in the pre-title sequence of For Your Eyes Only. Blofeld, diamond powered lasers, Sean Connery... oh, and also Jill St. John. What more could fans of camp humor want?
