Movies have the power to make our mouths water and stomachs growl; but equally so they have the power to make bile rise into our throats and turn us off certain foods forever.
Here’s a list of 5 movie scenes that presented meals that made me want to run out of the cinema or stop the DVD and feast on what the characters were eating (and 5 that me abandon my popcorn and turn the bucket into a vomit receptacle)…

5. Hot Jambalaya – Mrs. Doubtfire
Jambalaya, the comforting Creole dish of the deep south that infuses French and Spanish cuisines to produce a rich stew of chicken, andouille sausage, prawns and the holy trinity (onion, celery and bell pepper). And the non-spicy one that Bridges restaurant prepares for the pepper-intolerant Hugh (Pierce Brosnan) looks good enough to suit the biggest Louisiana stereotype: creamy, velvety rice clinging to large chunks of chicken and discs of juicy sausage and meaty pink prawns.
The stomach churning moment comes when Mrs. Doubtfire manages to successfully execute the Heimlich to eject the prawn that she dowsed in cayenne pepper. The regurgitated, although curiously fully intact prawn, flies across the restaurant, landing with a splat in front of the repulsed Sally Field. We share her nausea. Although the state of the prawn makes me wonder whether he would have choked on it regardless of whether it was smothered in Cayenne? Note to Pierce Brosnan – always chew each mouthful 40 times.
