5 Movies You Didn’t Know Were Written By Famous Directors

4. Gone Fishin' (J.J. Abrams)

When you think of J.J. Abrams, what comes to mind? The rebooted Star Trek universe? TV series like Lost and Alias? Mission Impossible 3? Cloverfield? How about a movie starring Joe Pesci and Danny Glover about a stolen fishing boat?

Yes, long before J.J. Abrams was hand picked to direct new Star Wars movies, he was co-writing a script about fishing trips gone wrong. It wasn't the best start to a new career (the film tanked hard with both critics and audiences) but I am sure that Abrams was extremely thankful to have any sort of work at all. Plus, who wouldn't want to work with Joe Pesci and Danny Glover at the height of their Lethal Weapon fame? Shortly after, Abrams would go on to create the TV series Felicity, one of his first hits.
