5. The Battle Room
The story mainly takes place on a space station in orbit above Earth. Cadets take part in complex, zero-g battles that prepare them for the tactical thinking and creativity they will need as commanders. Hundreds of kids, bouncing off of walls, trying to outwit each other in fast-paced, action-packed battles: what better setting could you ask for in a Hollywood blockbuster? After twenty-plus years of daydreaming about the battle room, there is almost no way the finished movie product can match the scenes created in our minds. Yet, when the first glimpses flashed across my screen as part of the teaser trailer, I could feel my skin crawl with excitement. From all initial views of these scenes, Hollywood appears to have gotten it right. I think when Dragon Army gets their first go at this room, we are all in for a treat. He was a soldier, and if anyone had asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, he wouldn't have known what they meant. Bean
