5 Signs That The X-Men Are Coming To The Marvel Cinematic Universe

3. The X-Men Are Still Around In The Comics

Marvel haven't exactly been giving the studios who own the film rights to their characters an easy time. They've refused to make any tie-in merchandise for all the X-Men, Spider-Man or Fantastic Four films (any products link only to the print versions of the characters) and have started to adjust the comics to fit their movies. Last year Fantastic Four was out-right cancelled and the subsequent All-New, All Different reboot has totally shifted the status quo of the Marvel Universe, pushing once minor characters who've been given a new lease of life through film to the fore and removing those Marvel Studios don't have the rights to. Interestingly, however, X-Men hasn't been cancelled and still exist in some form in the continuity. Although that's no confirmation of an MCU appearance, it does show that Marvel aren't as ready to sever ties with the mutants as they are with their First Family. They even endorsed the upcoming Deadpool recently with a comic reference to the promotional material Ryan Reynolds has been tweeting. Of course, X-Men is one of the company's best-sellers, while Fantastic Four was one of the worst, so it's best taking this all with a pinch of salt. Still, as the comics are increasingly providing a proving ground the movies, it's one decision that should be remembered.
