2. Ben Reilly
This one is undoubtedly a fan favourite. The tale of the evil Jackal’s creation of a clone of Peter Parker was a harrowing twist in the web for our hero, as he even began to wonder whether he himself was real, or indeed just a clone of the ‘true’ character. Ben Reilly soon adopted the mantle of the ‘Scarlet Spider’, leading into an epic yarn which climaxed with the return of Norman Osborn and the truth of which Parker was the original.
Osborn just gets one or two references in the new film, acting as the head of Oscorp Industries from behind-the-scenes while the Lizard incident comes to light. Wouldn’t it be great if the not-yet-casted character could stay in the shadows for now, manipulating Spider-Man from off-stage until he brings him near breaking point, perhaps alluding to a Green Goblin forged out of darkness and corruption rather than a freak scientific accident? The idea of a psychological battle for Spidey involving Reilly would no doubt be an appealing one to fans, and as I say it might allow for a strong Osborn arc to develop in the process. I’ll return to this later!

Ambitious stuff in this article. Rhys Ifans will return at some stage as he wasn’t killed and he still had scales on his neck. Don’t think they’ll go for the clone story a little far fetched. Most likely is the death of Gwen Stacy by far. Would like to see it at the end of the 2nd act in the 2nd movie. Goblin will be in it. They really are taking a leaf out of Nolan’s book. Lizard is like Rhas al Ghul in that he is a father like figure that Peter is missing. Going on that logic the 2nd will have Goblin (spidey’s greatest nemesis like Joker is Batman’s) Gwen will die much like Rachel dies in Dark Knight. This will set Spidey to beat the proverbial out of Norman and make a decision whether to kill or not. Goblin is too much of an improtant character to have. They might do him like they did in the ultimate version (he physically transforms rather than puts on a suit) but we already had a big green monster so they might stick with the traditional costume but de-campify it. 3rd mvoie will see MJ coming in and maybe Dock Ock and Norman as the bad guys

Hey Mike, yep that’s the 2012 Scarlet Spider incarnation to be fair, I just thought it would feel more contemporary to use that image rather than the classic one. Point taken, though!
The Clone Saga, “undoubtedly a fan favorite”? Jeez. That was one of the story lines that nearly buried the book in the ’90s. IIRC, pretty much every regular Spidey reader hated that Ben Reilly business. Then I think there was a third clone in the mix somewhere…? Although that whole fiasco was one of the turning points that gave impetus to the creation of the Ultimate universe, so in a twisted way, maybe it is a fan favorite.
No Ultimate Spider-Man: Venom story? It looks like the films might be leading in that direction with Peter’s parents, and Venom could work very well in the Amazing Spider-Man cinematic universe.
I think a natural sequel would be a Kraven story. He could hear about spider-man taking down the lizard and think to himself that there is some excellent hunting to be had in NYC! In fact, I think it would be cool if Sony took what marvel did with the avengers and applied the concept to villains, introducing a new villain with each film building up to the sinister six in a big blow out film where Spidey almost gets killed. Yeah… That’s what I want!

I Think a venom storyline would be nice, but since the symbiote from outer space was awfully used in SPM3, i think that they will use the ultimate version of venom. And please, Make Venom look a Bigger and Huge built like he’s supposed to be. Anyway, nowadays CGI can do the trick

I know that everyone will bash the Raimi version just like every from SPM1 is being bashed nowadays.
Well, in 10years time when they’ll be a reboot of the reboot.
Amazing will not be so amazing in from of the Spectacular etc etc
