Originally commissioned off the success of A Charlie Brown Christmas, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown follows the Peanuts gang - in particular the blanket loving Linus - one Halloween night as they await the arrival of the fabled Great Pumpkin. When CBS commissioned the film it was a huge risk as back in those days Halloween wasn't deemed worthy of its own TV specials. Nothing could be further from the truth these days with The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror becoming a staple of household viewing schedules at this time every year.
