5 Things Robert Pattinson Needs to Know About Lawrence of Arabia

5. He Was An Outstanding Scholar

Lawrence got himself a first-class honours degree from Oxford after he submitted a thesis which he€™d actually traipsed around the Middle East researching for. He later became adept at contemporary and ancient languages too, even winning acclaim for translating books such as the French novel The Forest Giant and Homer€™s Odyssey from ancient Greek, not to mention becoming fluent in Arabic astonishingly soon after finishing his degree. Most students today barely traipse down a library aisle in pursuit of knowledge, let alone travel to an incredibly dangerous place in order to collect information about Crusader castles. A clear indication that Lawrence, though a gifted history geek, was never one to sit idly by in a cosy library when there was a treasure trove of information on the frontiers of Western exploration. Remind you of a certain George Lucas creation? Certainly a favourite with any budding history buff and it€™s fairly safe to say that T. E. Lawrence was an earlier, perhaps more refined, Indiana Jones.

A. J. S. Scott was created as a homunculus by a mad English Alchemist who was trying to make rum from ink and seawater. He is still a fan of both and he has no comment on what happened to all the ‘No Exit’ signs in Islington Underground Station when he visited for Beltaine. You can send him missives by bribing the Right Raven with sour-strings, or: Instagram: @ajsscott Tumblr: andrew-scott-things.tumblr.com
