5 Ways Justice League Ruins Its Best Characters

5. Aquaman... Without The Aqua

Jason Momoa’s casting as Arthur Curry (a.k.a. Aquaman) drew much praise in the build-up to Justice League, an inclusion that literally opens up an entirely new universe for this modern cinematic age to explore.

The possibilities for underwater frolics were boundless, and yet, save for an awkwardly choreographed battle against Steppenwolfe and some scenes of Batman initially recruiting the heir to Atlantis’s throne, we barely got the impression Aquaman had anything to do with…well aqua.

Instead, his highlights came in the form of the film’s final battle, most of which you’ll have seen if you watched the enough Justice League trailer footage, making him just another super-strong ally blending into the team. Imagine Khal Drogo with a trident. HEY HANG ON A MINUTE!

Momoa’s portrayal of the character was largely good, and while we’ll wait for Aquaman’s solo release before discounting his skill set altogether, a few tidal waves or surfing shots atop Orcas really would have helped his big-screen debut.
