50 Reasons Why Aliens Is The Greatest Movie Of All Time

48. Quote: Eat This!

Probably one of the best quotes of all time is Hicks€™ €œEat this!€ line. Having just shoved a rather Terminator-esque sawn off shotgun into the drooling chops of an Alien, Hicks delivers a one liner that Arnie would have wet his pants for.

47. The Opening Sequence

The opening sequence of Aliens is one of the most €˜Alien€™ like sequences in the movie. A slow paced model shot of the surviving craft from the Nostromo as it drifts listlessly through space before being picked up by a deep space salvage team. The musically score is also perfect for this sequence. Right from the off you feel like you are watching the right movie €“ a true sequel to Alien.

46. James Horner

Aliens was scored by James Horner who gave the film its military theme tune. The punchy drum beat really moves the scene along well as the marines are gearing up to go down to the planet and the €˜chase€™ music especially when using the APC as a getaway vehicle was awesome pulse driving stuff. The lighter more €˜Alien€™ music (see the opening sequence especially) brought us back into the semi-sinister sci-fi realms. Given the fact that Horner himself didn€™t feel that the score was 100% of what it could be due to time restrictions, the fact that the soundtrack won him an Academy Award nomination speaks volumes of his talented work on the film.
