2. Contrary To Popular Belief, His Films Do Have Heart
Nolan has once been described by a Hollywood producer as a cold guy who makes cold films and most of his films have been described as unemotional, clinical and detached. This would be a focal point for a lot of people who believe that he wouldnt be the right man for Akira. At its core, Akira is a highly emotional tale of two friends who are pitted against one another as one finds that absolute power corrupts absolutely. A cold, calculating cinematic style makes sense when the protagonists themselves are both cold and calculating (Leonard in Memento, Bruce Wayne, Cobb), but Nolan will have to take off the surgical gloves and scalpel and bring the feels with Akira. And when you consider his filmography, he has shown to be able to portray high emotion, only his narratives normally overshadow the heart. Memento showed a man plagued by loss and revenge, Michael Caine made his lip wobble more than Hannah Montanas booty at the VMAs in The Dark Knight Rises, Inception dealt with suicide, reconciliation and letting go of the one that you love and Interstellar focused on love transcending galaxies. Chris Nolan may be so ice cool that he was born in a tailored suit but hes able to bring on the feels when necessary.
