6 Things New To Netflix This Week (Jan 11)

Half a dozen excuses to stay away from the gym.

After a storming month in December, many predicted a drop in quality new offerings from Netflix in January. Those people need to be gently slapped around the face with a wet fish and made to sit in the corner. If you're looking for a good reason to dodge the dumbbells (at the gym), put your mind to some problem-solving or learn a thing or two about history, then you've come to the right place. This week on Netflix, you've got the return of the world's greatest detective with the answer to the biggest cliffhanger on British TV, and Bill Murray stepping out as the President of the United States. Prefer your programmes more debauched, and slightly murderous? Like your comedy quite American and a bit park-based? They've got that too. And if Will Ferrell is your go-to guy for a fun, dumb movies or perhaps you prefer the company of zombies (let's be honest, who doesn't), then there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of zombies waiting for you. Hey, you're busy and Netflix is flooded with good stuff, so where do you begin? With these six quick picks.

6. Z Nation Season 2

Recently renewed for a third season, SyFy's humorous zombie drama is taking over the streaming world. Episode one picks up where the last one left off, with the team trying to get Murphy out of Cheyenne and to the CDC, while a hoard of zombies are swarming a listening post. Just a typical day in zombie land. There's every chance you'll recognise Keith Allan, who plays Murphy, from shows like Buffy, Scrubs, Mad Men and Star Trek: Enterprise. In fact, Z Nation is packed full of lesser-known faces you've seen somewhere before, including DJ Qualls (Breaking Bad), Tom Everett Scott (Sons of Anarchy) and Donald Corren (Law and Order). Z Nation has the humour you won't find in The Walking Dead. Then again, smiling wouldn't really suit Rick Grimes, would it? You can stream all fifteen episodes of the show's second season on Netflix from January 17th.
