6. Body Slam

body slamDirector: Hal Needham. Starring: Dirk Benedict, €œRowdy€ Roddy Piper, Lou Albano In Body Slam, washed up music promoter Harry Smilac (Dirk Benedict) mistakenly hires a professional wrestler as a client, but eventually decides to stick around as a manager. Natch. Following a series of feuds with villainous head honcho €œCaptain€ Lou Morano, he eventually organizes a nationwide tour featuring rock bands and wrestling shows. Starring €œRowdy€ Roddy Piper in his first leading role, Body Slam is considered one of the more forgettable moments of the Rock €˜n€™ Wrestling Connection era. However, this is more to do with the various legal wrangles surrounding the production which eventually resulted in a direct-to-video release, than the content of the film itself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqpg_KtTrmA Lou Albano stars as Piper€™s villainous former manager (he previously appeared as Cindy Lauper€™s dad in the music video for Girls Just Wanna Have Fun). Also, being €œthe Limousine riding, jet flying, kiss stealing wheeling dealing son of a gun€ that he is, Ric Flair also bags himself a cameo in one of the match sequences. Naturally.
