Hatchet 2 has a whole host of horror movie connections spiralling out from its central plot, in which the survivor of Hatchet comes back locked and loaded to end Victor Crowley's reign of terror as a swamp-dwelling, hatchet-wielding, deformed-looking murderer once and for all.

Whilst we've previously mentioned director Adam Green's nod to his past work with Frozen's TV cameo, there's even MORE bones thrown when you dig around for long enough in the movie's vast easter egg collection, with the one and only Leslie Vernon mentioned by name in a throwaway piece of dialogue.

Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon is a mockumentary on the titular character as he follows in the steps of famous movie serial killers, such as Freddy from A Nightmare On Elm Street and Jason from Friday the 13th, in a world where they're all too real - no longer confined to their films alone. In Hatchet 2, when Chad talks of his home town, he mentions Glen Echo and describes their 'ghost story' as being of said Leslie Vernon, all but confirming that the serial killers of these worlds all live in one giant shared universe.

In addition, Hatchet 2 also mentions Jason Voorhees, with Victor Crowley being described as 'something like him' by the protagonists. Considering everyone is alarmingly aware of the mass of serial killers inhabiting the world, they're all pretty calm about it.
