7 Mistakes Marvel Has Already Made With Phase Three

1. They've Killed Off Too Many Good Villains

Despite all of its triumphs, the MCU has had a real issue with underusing it's villains. Ultron, the eponymous character of this year's Avengers sequel often seemed to be scheming in the background and rarely gave much sense of menace, the Winter Solider is evidently going to be on Cap's side for Civil War if concept art is to be believed and Ronan the Accuser was exploded with the power of teamwork and pelvic sorcery. The Red Skull coming back in the 21st century would provide an extremely interesting conflict to mine (you never actually saw him die after all, he was merely beamed up by the Teseract) but they'll probably have to recast as, according to interviews, Hugo Weaving couldn't be less interested in reprising the role. The fact is though that the MCU has been far too trigger-happy in dispatching it's villains so far, with Iron Monger, Yellow Jacket, Aldrich Killian and Malekith amongst the dead (and they were deathly dull before). Marvel really needs to up its game. Options include Kang the Conquerer on the sci-fi side (although Simpsons fans may well wonder where Kodos is), the satanic Mephisto, the all powerful Beyonder and The Skrulls. The Skrulls may be too close to the Fantastic Four though, so there's more rights issues there. Personally though, I'd like to see Wilson Fisk make himself known to the heroic big league. Sure he's not going to beat on Thor much, but he could surround himself with enough armed bastards to cause trouble around the world for a while. At the moment, the MCU crying out for decent villains more than ever before. Looking at the current slate Doctor Strange's arch nemesis Dormammu, the demonic ruler of the Dark Dimension and expert Human Torch cosplayer, is the only potential villain who really stands out. For my money Marvel need to bring some attention grabbing, charismatic villains to the fore pretty soon. Do you think Marvel should change up Phase Three? Or have they got it right?
