DC is getting ever-closer to its dream of having a shared cinematic universe and a superhero team of its own to rival Marvel's Avengers at the box office. The ongoing war between the two venerable companies may have started at the newsstands, but the real battle is now being fought in the cinemas and getting the Justice League onscreen is now DC's main priority. A lot of the groundwork is being done in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, but there are still some important roles that remain unfilled (officially at least). DC is already making some of these characters more popular with the general public through TV shows such as Arrow, The Flash and Legends Of Tomorrow but unusually they aren't looking to bring the pr-established versions and their actors onto the screen. Instead Warner and DC are casting separate cinematic counterparts and reintroducing them to the screen in new guise, explaining away the difference in actors with a multiverse explanation that sees versions of the same characters exist within different universes. So, whilst Stephen Amell has been playing Oliver Queen on TV's Arrow for four well-received seasons it's unlikely that he will be joining the Justice League, especially since Ezra Miller is already confirmed to be already taking over Flash duties from TV's Grant Gustin on the big screen. All of which means that spots in the Justice League's roster are more open than ever. So, who could be joining Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa and Gal Godot in the fight against injustice?
7. Josh Holloway As Green Arrow
By embracing the multiverse model, the Justice League and associated films give DC the chance to offer different versions of characters that audiences have already become familiar with, so now could be the perfect time to show viewers a more mature and seasoned Oliver Queen, especially with Batman V Superman taking cues from Frank Miller's seminal The Dark Knight Returns. An older Queen would have to be able to portray a certain swaggering exterior but have deep reserves of pain and morality under the surface, all of which make Josh Holloway the perfect choice to don the green robes. He may not have done an awful lot of note over the past five years, but watch any episode of Lost that focuses on Sawyer and you'll see just what he's capable of. Two big Sawyer moments stick out as showing just what Holloway is capable of with the right material: the death of his wife, Juliet, and the subsequent rage that builds inside him, and the realisation that he's killed an innocent man in a misguided attempt to get revenge on the conman who was responsible for the death of his parents. The rest of the time Sawyer is on screen he's a charming rogue, capable of disarming the the most stony of hearts, but there's always that depth behind the eyes. As a character Sawyer always seemed to be wearing a mask to fit perceptions, so Holloway could be the perfect choice to play a socially conscious billionaire like Oliver Queen.
