7 Plots And Plot Devices That The DCU Needs To Avoid

7. Superman And Wonder Woman Should Not Get Together

This one is probably going to cause a bit of a divide amongst fans of Supes. For anybody outside the regular DC readership, mention Superman€™s love life and two names are going to come up; Lois Lane and Wonder Woman. Lois Lane has so far appeared in Man of Steel played by Amy Adams (she was a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, in case you€™ve forgotten), and Wonder Woman is due to make a pivotal appearance in 2016€™s Batman v Superman played by Gal Gadot. Some fans will probably be clamouring to see Kal El and Diana get together to form the ultimate power couple, but in the long run it won€™t do the DCU any favours. For a start it€™ll simply be depressing to see both strong female characters pitted against each other in a battle for Superman€™s affections. They both deserve better arcs than striving for the title of €˜Superman€™s girlfriend€™ after all. Even if Lois was removed from the equation it would be a bad idea for Wonder Woman and Clark to get together. With the death of his human dad in the midst of Man of Steel and BvS hinting at some serious hero-worship inflating his ego, Clark needs a touchstone to keep him in contact with his humanity more than ever. Lois is that touchstone - that fact alone might make her the most important character in BvS - so removing her would be a huge mistake.
