8 Actors With Mysterious Roles In Upcoming Films

IMDb's cast listings won't help you now.

People are used to Batfleck not because he's pulled out all the stops in his performance, but because it's been rammed down our throats to the point where you can't even remember Christian whatshisface. Adam Driver's eventual casting in Star Wars Episode VII was only met with glib acceptance following months of speculation that had suggested as such. Heck, it's already known all of the Avengers will make it out of Age Of Ultron alive as every actor is set to appear in at least one of the other ten movies Marvel currently has in production. In an age where every little tidbit of movie news is dissected by countless media outlets, casting reports are a big deal, but in terms of actual enjoyment of cinema it can all be a bit too much. Where's that old-fashioned joy of in-movie surprises and speculation based on what'd be cool, not what contract lengths allow? Thankfully, a glimmer of the wide-eyed wonderment of cinema still remains. Last year, Christopher Nolan managed to hide the presence Matt Damon, one of the biggest actors on the planet, in Interstellar, one of the most anticipated movies of the 2014, making for one of the most unexpected, if totally context-relevant, twists in recent memory (Gone Girl's was better, sure, but you knew things weren't going to be as they seemed there). It's not just Nolan who can do this either. Here are eight more actors whose roles in major upcoming movies have yet to be announced. Of course, unlike Dr. Mann, the identities will no doubt be revealed before the films are actually released, but for now they remain deliriously unknown. And isn't there some fun in that?
