8 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (March 29)

Hello dear readers, and welcome to this week's edition of the WhatCulture news brief. This has been a bit of a slow news week, without our usual batch of big and exciting news stories. Don't worry, there are definitely some intriguing things in this week's roundup, but we'll be talking about eight of them this time instead of the usual ten. I do, however, have quite a few honourable mentions to share, so I guess things even out? This week we heard news about two big remakes, one of which is Scarface and the other... is a surprise. Trust me, it'll get you talking! We also have some Ant-Man news, a couple trailers that may or may not ruin your childhood, and updates on Fast and Furious 7 and Prometheus 2. So, let's jump right into it!

Honourable Mentions

Daredevil Michael C. Hall is supposedly on Marvel's radar to play Daredevil (which starts shooting in July). I always thought he'd be great as Batman, but since that role is taken Daredevil is the next best thing! Please let this rumor be true... Cheech and Chong are making another film! So... groovy? Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is adding Coulson's love interest, a cellist who was briefly mentioned in The Avengers, to be played by Dollhouse and Angel co-star Amy Acker. (via TV Guide) Since Steven Soderbergh has retired from directing (for now), we've been left wondering who would direct the Magic Mike sequel, which is now being called Magic Mike XXL. Looks like Soderbergh's longtime Assistant Director, Greg Jacobs, will take the wheel and is bringing back most of the main cast from the original. (via The Playlist) Nick Frost is headed to TV, to star alongside Justin Long in the Fox pilot Sober Companion. Now just get rid of Justin Long and I'm stoked. The first trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is here. And... yeah, it's unfortunately looks as bad as we all feared. It could be good, but this trailer doesn't do it very many favors, and has received a bit of a divisive reaction from fans.
