8 Child Actors Who We Wish Had Stayed Kids

3. Mischa Barton

Before she was in The O.C., Barton was a busy child performer. Starting as a model, she then had roles in The Sixth Sense (seems that movie was quite the star maker), a series of American TV shows and a minor, adorable part in Richard Curtis' Notting Hill. She played a gentle parody of a child actor and it's hard to say whether or not she was in on the joke but it was a pretty great scene in which she held her own opposite Hugh Grant. Unfortunately, though The O.C. is an extremely enjoyable teen drama, Barton was one of the least exciting things about it. She seemed to have lost her youthful energy and turned in mostly dead-eyed performance until the producers killed her character off. But this is not the greatest strike against her post-child-star life. Nor is her tendency to get into legal trouble (she has convictions for driving without a licence and driving under the influence, has been sued by her landlord and is currently suing her own mother). No, the greatest strike against her is that in 2008, she launched her own headband line and charged upwards of £100. Per headband.

Brydie is an Australian writer and performer living in London and she complains exactly the same amount about the weather as every other Australian living in London. Yes, that is her natural lip colour, no, she will not be taking any further questions at this time.
