8 Facts We Actually Know About The MCU Spider-Man

5. ...And Has Been Spider-Man For A Year

One of the bigger reasons audiences would be apprehensive about a new take of Spider-Man, regardless of the Marvel connection, is the sheer lethargy over having to watch another origin story. Spider bite, Uncle death, power and responsibility - we know it already. Well, almost in a direct response to The Amazing Spider-Man's Batman Begins approach, it was made clear early on in the deal that the MCU's Peter Parker will already be established as Spider-Man. There'll no doubt be a flashback to this origin at some point (most likely in the first stand-alone movie), but there's something very exciting about knowing this latest Spidey will swing into a film (probably literally) fully formed. Kevin Feige recently elaborated on exactly how long Spidey's been doing whatever a spider can in the universe - by the time of Captain America: Civil War he's been crime-fighting for a year (meaning Pete got bit when he was fourteen). This makes a lot of sense - Spider-Man has to be somewhat established to logically get embroiled in that Captain America Vs. Iron Man conflict.
