8 Famous Movie Villains Who Got Off Much Too Lightly

8. Sandman - Spider-Man 3

SPIDERMAN-3-La-creation-de-Venom-et-de-Sandman In Sam Raimi's audience-dividing Spider-Man 3, Flint Marko is a convict who escapes from prison, falls into a particle accelerator and gets fused with a whole bunch of sand, which subsequently transforms him into a villainous character called Sandman, because that's what happens in movies based on comic books. Sandman goes on a bit of a bad guy spree, robbing banks and being a bit of a douche, until Spider-Man decides to take action on him. We later find out in an insane moment of retconning that Marko killed Peter's Uncle Ben. Sandman develops a hatred for Spider-Man and teams up with the film's other villian, Venom, and the two hatch a plan to squash him for good. Eventually Spidey prevails, and Marko repents for what he did, claiming that he only accidently killed Peter's uncle when another guy knocked the gun and it fired. Peter forgives him and Marko, like, dissipates and floats off. What?! This guy is an escaped convict... he tried to rob a bank and he injured and maybe killed a bunch civilians. Just 'cause he says sorry does not mean he gets to go free. A complete lapse of logic.
