8 Franchises With Two Movies That Deserve To Become Trilogies

8. Sherlock Holmes

_DAN8615.dngThe Movies So Far... Sherlock Holmes (2008), Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011) Say what you will about Hollywood's modern spin on Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous creation, but Guy Richie's interpretation of Sherlock Holmes - which stars Robert Downey Jr. as the iconic detective and Jude Law as his friend and biographer John Watson - is bloody good fun. And given that the second movie in the franchise successfully avoided ruining the first, I don't see any reason not to give these characters another whirl. After all, there are so many Sherlock Holmes stories out there to adapt, it'd be kind of stupid not to keep going, wouldn't it? I hate unwarranted sequels as much as the next person, but - in this case - it's kind of different. Hear me out: Sherlock Holmes was a character created purely for the serial format. He's supposed to go on different adventures, and given Downey Jr.'s obvious flair for the character, it'd be a shame to waste the opportunity to see more outings.
