8 Most God-Awful Movie Superheroes Not Based On Existing Material

Condorman Disney Attaining the rights to existing superhero properties is a complex and notoriously expensive process for any Hollywood studio - especially in today's market where every second cinematic venture seems to be based around the idea of somebody coming to terms with their new powers, dressing up in a costume, and punching criminals in the head for the sum of two hours. Still, given the costs and complications associated with making a movie about an established superhero, filmmakers have often thrown caution to the wind and - yes - designed their own superheroes... 'cause how hard could that be? Design an outfit for your character, make up an awesome power: you're halfway there already, right? Well, occasionally this process works out, and you wind up with something great like Darkman or M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable.
